career development is a continuous a lifelong process, meaning that throughout your life , you will change, situations will change, and you will continually have to make career and life decisions. There are number of factors that influence  career development, including ones  interests,  values, personality, background,  circumstances and potentials.

We at Government  Degree college Sopore  help  student  to know and understand himself and the world of work in order to make his career, educational, and life decisions to the best of his capabilities.

The goal of Career Counseling Cell of our reputed college is to not only help students to make the decisions they need to take  but to give them  the knowledge and skills they need to make future career and life decisions. Besides advice-giving we  help the students to manage their journey through life, learning and career work changes . This includes career exploration, making career choices, managing career changes, lifelong career development and dealing with other career-related issues.

We Help student to  figure out who he is and what he want out of his education, his career, and his life. students  can talk to us about his thoughts, ideas, feelings, and concerns about his career and educational choices, we will help him sort out, organize, and make sense of his thoughts and feelings.

Help him  identify the factors influencing his career development, and help him assess his interests, abilities, and values. Help him locate resources and sources of career information. Help him to determine next steps and develop a plan to achieve his goals.

WHEN SHOULD STUDENT VISIT OUR COUNSELLING CELL

Career Counseling does not start here in later semesters  . The earlier the student get started making intentional decisions about his future, however, the better prepared he will be! We recommend that all students come in and visit our Career Counseling cell any time

WHO IS A CAREER COUNSELOR IN OUR COLLEGE?

The faculty members from different departments assist students in career Counselling and have expertise in career development , counseling techniques, administration and interpretation of assessments, and career information resources. We have experts from psychology Department as part of Career Counselling team who have good understanding of student personalities , behaviors in local context. The faculty from  Department of management  are trying to incorporate entrepreneurial zeal in students of the college.

• Planning to exploit the NEP 2020 to the best so that students are skilled enough to get jobs in different industrial sectors .
• Directly involve the student representatives to work for the placement process in student teams and facilitating them to reach different industries .
• Trying to figure out and organize with different Departments the certification courses which   orient the students to meet the current  industry requirements in case the university syllabus is not suffice.
