The department of Statistics was established with a vision to make the students, in particular, and the people in general aware of this emerging and interesting subject. The major aim of the department is to give the learners a sound understanding of the subject.

The college offers a regular three years bachelors degree with Statistics as one of the subjects. The subject can be opted for both in Science as well as in arts stream with subject combination approved by the University of Kashmir.

The programme offers an opportunity to students for higher studies in Statistics. Most of the students with one subject as this one have progressed to higher studies for post-graduation & research studies in various universities of the country. The majority of the pass-outs have their good placements in the job sector, especially in the Department of Planning, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Govt. Education Department, Indian Statistical Service, Higher Education Department and different banks of the country. 

The department strives to inculcate quantitative, analytical and logical skills in the students. We envision producing those who possess the knowledge of mathematical tools, of logical and inferential acumen.

The department strives to visualize the mission of seeing its students being trained in analytical skills, numerical abilities, logical derivations, spatial understanding and statistical inference.
